Adrian and Dulcie

Our friendship began 41 years ago when we met as students at Queen’s University in Kingston ON. We were married in Calgary, Adrian’s hometown, and raised our 3 (now grown) children. Summers on the west coast became a feature of our family times during which fantasies of having more west coast in our future were seeded.

Contemplating an empty nest in a few years, we began exploring options for living well through the next third of our lives. Having friends in cohousing in Calgary provided us with glimpses of intentional community and stirred our wondering about how this might work for us.

Initially, we were drawn to West Wind Harbour Cohousing through the allure of oceanside living. We became convinced to eventually call this home by the warm welcome and enthusiasm of West Wind Harbour members for creating authentic relationships in a vibrant and caring community. It’s gratifying to pitch in and tackle tasks together.

Many years of busy professions and urban living have often interfered with sustained friendships and we are already enjoying the ease of connection with cohousers and anticipate many play dates ahead!
